Yvonne Kent Halvorson

Yvonne Kent Halvorson, 79, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020.  Yvonne was born on September 28, 1941 in Los Angeles, California to Martha Leishman Kent and Otto Keith Kent. Yvonne was married to Rodney R. Halvorson on December 12, 1992 in Farmington, Utah.

Yvonne was a beautiful person, kind-hearted and sweet.  She was capable, smart, and self-sufficient. As a chatty person, she made new friends everywhere she went. Vonnie never met a stranger.  Of all the roles she held in her life, being a mom and grandma was her favorite and spending time with her family was very important to her. Yvonne had a great laugh and loved re-telling family stories. She was funny, feisty, and very caring of everyone close to her.  She loved reading books, watching movies, was a dedicated Utah Jazz fan and hated to miss her daily dose of Jeopardy. Yvonne was well-travelled, having lived in Asia, and having visited Ireland and France, as well as most of the western parts of the US. She loved nature, especially the ocean and beach, mountains, and all wildlife. Music was important to her and would often have the Eagles or Andrea Bocelli playing in the background. Yvonne had a green thumb and enjoyed plants and flowers. She loved to cook for her family and had many specialties.

Yvonne is survived by Rodney Halvorson (Thief River Falls, Minnesota), her daughter, Christine Barben (Scott); her two sons, Michael Shaw (Amori) and Darin Graves; as well as her 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and her brother Cortez Kent (Kay). Yvonne was preceded in death by Otto Kent (father), Martha Kent (mother), Shirley Bangerter (sister), Beverly Craig (sister), Billie Kent (sister), Linda Kent (sister), Curtis Shaw (son).
