Her greatest talent was bringing the family together whether it was with her own children, her siblings, or Phil’s brothers and sisters, she loved being with them always.

  1. How we Fish children love “Aunt” Ruth and “Uncle” Phil. They were like a 2nd set of parents to us when we moved from Toquerville to St. George following our father’s death in 1956. Their children are like our own siblings. Bonnie calls us all the “Squishes”. . . .
Our love to the entire family.
    The circle of life continues. . . . . . .

  2. Aunt Ruth was a very warm and loving person in our lives. As we lived on flood street , just next door to them , she and Uncle Phil played very important parts in our young lives. She was just as important to nurturing us as our own mother. Countless times when Phyllis and I would be playing with our dolls outside she would bring little sandwiches and kool aid out to us and she would sit and join us. I loved her so much and will miss seeing her for awhile.
Our love is with all of you, her family as you move forward without her. God bless you always!

  3. Gloria and I send our Love. We are so elated to call your family “Friends” What an amazing Legacy Ruth leaves behind. As Jan and I visited on the phone the other afternoon when he calle to let me know of his Mom’s passing, we could not help but talk about the amazing Reunion that is going on just on the other side of the Veil. I am certain that Brother Phil was overjoyed to once again embrace his Sweetheart. Phil and Ruth truly embody Christlike Love to all they knew. I will forever treasure the association that I have with this Wonderful Family. We love you all.

  17. I feel like this is an end of an era – an era that has been so important to me. The example of love and friendship among the Hafen siblings has been an amazing thing to watch. I love Aunt Ruth so much and will sorely miss the visits we had. She was always so interested in our family and showed us she cared in many ways. Every time I make enchiladas on a bed of lettuce I remember her making that for us and eating in her dining room. I love you all and will be thinking of you today.

  20. Ruth is one of the finest and friendliest people upon the face of the earth! I loved her smile, the twinkle in her eyes and her remembering my name and things I have interest in. She would even make me aware of upcoming events which I might like. She has the strongest moral character and is totally committed to Jesus Christ. My Love to all in the family

  21. Carma, Ada and Ruth The stories told by these Sisters will keep Heaven entertained for ever …

  24. I will always cherish the visits that Ruth and I had. She was so kind and interested in others. It was wonderful living in the same ward with Ruth and Phil. Such a pure and kind couple who radiated devotion to each other. May all the family be comforted and blessed knowing how much we all love them both!

  25. I am sorry about the passing of your lovely mother. She raised a wonderful family. She is always so friendly and thoughtful. She will be missed

  26. Dear Phyllis & Steven, We recently learned of the passing of Phyllis’ mother, Ruth Hafen Squire, for which we offer our condolences. We remember her fondly from our years at the St. George Temple and know of her goodness.

  27. Phyllis I was just looking for pictures of your father on the internet to see if one of the people standing with my dad in a picture was your dad, I don’t believe it is, however, I saw that your mother had passed away at 99. We sure had some wonderful parents and they all lived long wonderful lives. My mom and dad both passed away at 94. It is still hard to lose them and I am constantly thinking I sure wish dad was here so I could ask him, i.e. who is the picture with him, but even more important things that I wish I had asked years ago. Hope you and Steve are doing Well.
