William J. Thiede

William J Thiede passed away December 2, 2024, in St, George, Utah. Bill was born July 5, 1938, in San Diego, California. He grew up in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City. He had such wonderful memories of Sugarhouse, Fairmont Park, his friends, and his dog "Spot". He graduated from South High in 1956. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Geological Engineering in 1967.

Bill married Judy McCombe on January 31, 1964. After graduating from the U of U Bill & Judy spent several years living in the Midwest. He was happy to return to Utah to family, friends and the mountains. Upon returning he established Thiede Construction Corporation, General Contractor for commercial projects. He loved to point out buildings saying, "We built that". Bill and Judy lived in the Salt Lake City area until retirement when they became Snowbirds with winters in St. George and summers in Salt Lake until finally deciding to make St. George their permanent home.

Bill was always active. He loved fishing, hunting, bowling and golf. He would say there wasn't a spot in Utah he hadn't seen. After retirement Bill & Judy were able to travel to so many countries.

He is survived by wife Judy, Son Thomas Thiede (Debbie), St George, UT, Daughters Christine Schuetzle (Paul), Salt Lake City, UT, and Rebecca Coombs (John), Eugene, OR.

Grandchildren Nicole Thiede, Jacob Thiede, Spencer Taylor and Luke Coombs. Sister Carla Patton, Lehi UT. He was preceded in death by parents Doug and Verda Thiede and brother Roberrt "Skip" Thiede.

Bill always said he was so lucky to have such a wonderful life!!!

Per his wishes he will be cremated, and ashes scattered in all his favorite places. No services will be held, but we would like you to take a moment to remember those good times.
