William Lee Adams

William Lee (Bill) Adams age 81, passed away early hours on May 2, 2024, peacefully in his sleep. He was born in St. George, UT on November 21, 1942, to William Lavern Adams and Bonita Fawcett Adams.

Bill was raised in Nevada and graduated from High School in Tonopah, NV. He had lived in several towns in Nevada growing up including Hawthorn and Winnemucca.

After High School Bill joined the US Air Force and served 4 years learning his original trade of typewriter repair. He came home on leave to St George and married Helen Bacon from Hurricane UT. They had two daughters Alicia and Becky and later divorced in 1971.

He married Ruth Ann Meadowcroft in 1972 and gained a bonus son, Fraser. Bill had a great sense of humor and told many rascal stories about his youth including being invited by the Sheriff of Tonopah to leave town.

After serving in the Air Force, he developed his skills in several other technical and information system industries. His favorite job was running a casino on a ferry between Victoria, British Columbia, and Seattle, WA. He loved his motorcycle and became a talented mechanic, once rebuilding a severely damaged bake.

He traveled with Ruth Ann all over the United States on their bike and one year rode to Nova Scotia in eastern Canada. Another favorite activity was playing Bridge. He played with a group of friends who enjoyed his card savvy. Bill loved his family and had many friends who will miss his laugh and ready wit.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann, daughters, Alicia Thomas and Becky Peabody, son Fraser Chisholm, sister Janet Adams Evans, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patricia Hobbs Dalton.

Interment will take place following a private graveside service on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Washington City Cemetery.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454.
