Vance Anderson

Vance Burton Anderson passed peacefully in the comfort of his home on January 1, 2025.

Burton was the definition of the saying "The man, The myth, The legend" That all started on December 22, 1940, when he made his big debut born in the car heading to the hospital in Ogden, Utah. Growing up Burton spent most of his time helping on his parent's dairy farm in Kanesville, UT. Burton is the third of six children. Their home was a place of love, adventure, and hard work.

Burton met the love of his life, Joan Wintle Anderson, after playing his saxophone, with his band, at the Utah State music clinic. He knew the moment he laid eyes on her that she was the one and they didn't come better than her. Their love story progressed quickly and despite her parent's wishes for them to slow things down, Burton and Joan ran away to Minnesota and tied the knot, civilly, September 17, 1959. One year later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple. They soon after started their family and had six beautiful children.

Burton could take raw ground and make it prosperous. He loved learning and had many talents. He had a creative, brilliant, mind and could invent or re-invent anything to make any given profession run more efficient. He was the type of guy to make anything work- he could make a square block fit in a round hole! Seems impossible, but he is the one person who could figure it out.

Burton had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel. He enjoyed church and served in many capacities. Burton spent many summers as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, assembling the Nauvoo pageant stage. One summer The British pageant joined the Nauvoo pageant and Burton was honored to be the one to design and weld the metal gates and fencing on stage.

Burton was a dedicated and supportive family man. His children, grandchildren, and friends could always count on him for anything. As he grew older, he would sit quietly in the chaos of family gatherings with a big smile on his face, contentedly observing the people he cared about.

Burton was the hardest worker that sacrificed and loved. His life was good and he endured it well! We love you and miss you immensely Dad!

Burton is survived by his wife, Linda Wilson Anderson; his sisters, Melba Bodily, Margaret Henstra, Connie Ship; his six children: Jodie (Norman) Hansen, Jeffery (Robin) Anderson, Lance (Jennifer) Anderson, Brenda (Scott) Kesler, David (Jennifer) Anderson, Meri Ellen (Wayne) Nunley; 39 grandchildren; and 60 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Bennett Anderson and Melba Ruth Burton; his wife, Joan Wintle Anderson; his brothers, Alvin Bennett, Harold Brent; granddaughter, Meranda Colleen Kesler; great grandson, Deagan Kaden Brown.
