Thomas Auffhammer

Thomas (Tom/TA) Auffhammer, 85, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024. He was born on August 1, 1939, in Elmira, New York to Edmund Auffhammer and Mary Thompson.

Tom spent much of his life in Syracuse, New York where he graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1957. He became a First Lieutenant in the New York Army National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1972. Tom was co-founder and President of Hamford & Rose Litho. Tom was an active member of the community, and if he saw a problem, he set out to fix it. This led him to run and win a seat as an Onondaga County Legislator. Tom was a huge supporter of youth sports. He coached for many years and founded both the District #8 Big League Girls Softball Program and the Corcoran High School Hockey Program and Booster Club. Tom was also an active member of the Valley Men's Club and the American Legion #1468.

After selling his business, Tom retired to St. George Utah, where he spent the remainder of his years. Not slowing down, Tom worked as a groundskeeper at Dixie Red Hills Golf Course for many years. He was also a member of the St. George Dixie Elks Lodge #1743. Tom loved the mountains and landscape of Saint George, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Even though living in Utah, he remained a fierce and loyal fan of the New York Yankees and Syracuse University sports.

Tom is survived by his 6 children, Timothy (Cindy), Hudson, Florida, Kimberly (Robert) Wise, Fredonia, N.Y., Thomas (Doreen), Michelle (Daniel) Gannon, Karen Auffhammer and Todd Auffhammer all of Syracuse, N.Y.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Edmund Auffhammer of St. George, Utah and Norman Auffhammer of Nashville, Tennessee, and his former spouse Linda Auffhammer of Syracuse, NY. Tom is predeceased by his parents, his infant grandchild (Christopher) and his first spouse, Sandra Burlingame.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. George Dixie Elks Lodge #1743.
