Sherman Chadburn

Sherman Reid Chadburn, 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep with family by his side, on December 27th, 2024

Sherman was born April 30th, 1930 in St. George, Utah to Fredrick and Harriet (Beacham) Chadburn. Sherman was the seventh child of eleven children. Sherman married Gail Leavitt in November 1952 and was later sealed in the St. George Temple.

Sherman was raised in Veyo, Utah, a place he loved deeply. He attended school in St. George and, after graduating, joined the army.

Sherman and Gail started their small family in Veyo and later moved to St. George. They had four children, three boys and one girl. Sherman worked for the city of St. George Power Company for 28 years.

Sherman's favorite things to do were, raise a garden, hunt, trap, and fish.

Sherman is survived by his wife Gail Leavitt Chadburn, son, Kelby Chadburn, Sister, Venna Ann Petersen, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Harriet Chadburn, sons Jeff Chadburn and Kurt Chadburn, as well as his daughter Jeanette Cornejo and grandson Waylon Curtis.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Spilsbury Mortuary. There will be a viewing Wednesday Evening, January 1, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. or just prior to the funeral on January 2, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., also at Spilsbury Mortuary. Internment will take place following the funeral at the Veyo Cemetery.
