Shane Michael Duffey, 29, our loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, and all-around best hunting partner you could ask for passed away on May 3, 2022, in St. George, Utah.
Shane was born on January 15, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada to Michael and Rebecca Duffey and was the younger brother to his very proud big sister Samantha Duffey. Shane was raised in Southern Utah, where he took advantage of all the great outdoor activities his home had to offer.
Shane adopted a love for hunting and fishing at a young age and learned everything he knew from his father Michael. (Who will be the first to admit that it wasn’t long before Shane was teaching him.) The two were always out on an adventure together and will forever be the best hunting buddies. Shane got his country boy charm from his mother who took him everywhere with her when he was growing up. From days spent moving hay to nights spent at the rodeo grounds they always had their boots on rearing to go. Shane would help his mom with the yardwork and the farm chores and was just as passionate about their animals as she was; minus that potbelly pig that always had it out for him. When Shane lost his mother in 2008 it changed his life forever – but it is a small comfort to know they are with each other again.
Shane was an amazing athlete that could excel at any sport (much to the annoyance of his athletically challenged big sister). He was an amazing baseball player, water skier, snowboarder, and dirt bike racer. It was a joy to his family to watch him excel and thrive doing something he loved. Shane and his sister Samantha were not just siblings but were the best of friends. In 2011, he was overjoyed to become an uncle to his niece Dannika Horne. He was always so proud of her, and Dannika loved her “Bubba” to the moon and back.
Shane was a friend to all, he truly didn’t judge and when he loved, he loved deeply. He was a light in our lives that truly never got a chance to shine.
Shane is survived by his father Michael Duffey, sister Samantha Duffey, niece Dannika Horne, grandmother Arma Hirschi (Bill Daley), and his beloved German shepherd Huntley.
Shane was preceded in death by his mother Rebecca “Becky” Duffey, his aunt Michelle Hirschi, his uncle Alan Hirschi, his grandfather Michael Hirschi, his grandad Harold Duffey, and his mama Marguerite Duffey.
A celebration of life will be held on June 4, 2022, at 10:00am at Grandpa’s Pond Park at 350 N 3700 W Hurricane, Utah. The family requests that you come casual and in honor of Shane and his immense collection please feel free to wear your favorite hat and/or camo.
