Robert Erwin Mehr passed quietly Thursday evening, April 28, 2022. He was 74 years old. He was born June 6, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Erwin Otto Mehr and Carol Fern Bird. He was one of eight children. Survived by wife Debbie Teeples Mehr and his 7 children Bryan, Jeffry, Jennifer, Cydnie, Sean, Spenser, Ryan. He also had 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Robert was a good friend, a good husband, and a great father. He came to Southern Utah in 1983 with his wife Debbie after deciding he didn’t want to drive trucks anymore. Shortly after coming to St. George, he started working a job doing garage doors but then quickly decided that he didn’t like to work for somebody, so not knowing how, what, who or why, he took a small loan from a family friend and started what we all know today as Mehr’s Garage Doors. Robert and Debbie knew very little about business or garage doors, but they dove in headfirst and ended up growing a very successful company.
Robert loved being outdoors with his family and friends whether it was camping, riding his side by side, or going to the lake. He also enjoyed Nascar Races, stock car races, golfing, motocross, boating, and being outdoors. Robert raised his two youngest boys on the water, and that’s something he really enjoyed.
Robert was one of those guys that always had to meet every person in the room. He just loved meeting and talking to new people. If you couldn’t find Robert, you just looked for the crowd of people standing around laughing, and he was sure to be there with them.
Robert will be truly missed by people in the community from business relationships to just normal everyday people that he would stop and talk to, but most of all he will be missed by his family. We love you Robert, and we know you are in a better place now, but we can’t help but be selfish and want you back!
Until we meet again: “Bob, how do you do it!?â€
