Robert Bernard Fallentine

Robert Bernard Fallentine passed away peacefully at home on Christmas morning 2023. He is survived by his wife, Annette Fallentine, his son, Dusty, his daughters, Bethany and Chandra, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and countless others that loved him dearly.

Robert was born August 23, 1942, in Ogden, Utah. He was raised on the mean streets of Salt Lake City.  He was the beloved son of Edith and Bernard Fallentine. He is one of five brothers and sisters, Jody (Lynn), Carolynn (Ralph), Susan (David), and Michael.  

He attended West High School, graduating in 1961. According to him he walked up hill to school both ways, usually in a snowstorm and he did, in fact, carry his lunch.  

Robert trained, nationally ranked, German Shorthair Pointers, his favorites included Rigger, Becca, and Cody. Rigger (who only pointed roosters) was the sole national champion trained by an amateur handler. With the help of those dogs and his trusty Browning Auto 5, he killed more pheasants than most people can ever hope to see. He was a true mountain man, participating in over 40 rendezvous. Rob was also an exceptional marksman, fervent deer hunter, and a brutally ethical fly fisherman.

He was in the construction business beginning at age 14. He was a skilled operator of heavy equipment and project superintendent. He loved to work, and he took immense pride in what he did, always producing exceptional quality and demanding the same from those he worked with. His forte was taking on a seemingly impossible assignment and making it reality, while ensuring the project was complete on time and under budget.

In October 1970, Robert met the love of his life, Annette, and the best and most fun years of their life together officially began.  After five years of trials, challenges and happiness, they were married on June 7, 1975.  Robert raised many children and touched the lives of countless more. He loved all children, and more importantly, they all loved him. He was the man that always had the solution to your problem, wisdom to help you get through a difficult time in your life, and if all else failed, he would deliver a classic one liner that you couldn’t help but crack a smile for.

Above all Robert was a man of character. Robert was and will continue to be admired by every person he encountered. Robert had one of the most inspiring personalities one could ever hope to share a moment with. Robert lived his life with honor, honesty, and kindness. Robert treated everyone he met with the value and respect that they deserved, while simultaneously not allowing anyone’s opinion of him or of his family to interfere with his true happiness, his beliefs, or his actions. He was his own man. He wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t matter, he was a man that we all loved, a man of innumerable stories, a man of wisdom beyond his years. He is a man we will always hold near and dear to our hearts. Rest in peace old man.
