Like a diamond when first found, you might not know what you have until you open it up to see its perfection.
Rhonda was born October 11, 1957, in San Diego, California, to Edward and Olivia (Costa) Wickham. She was the second daughter of three, following her older sister, Dina, and later welcoming younger sister, Sandra.
The family moved to Magna, Utah, where Rhonda met her husband of 47 years, Ron Devey. They were married on November 18, 1972. They later welcomed their sons, Cameron and Randy.
Rhonda retired from O.C Tanner in Salt Lake City, having worked there for the better part of 30 years. With the same “bring it on” attitude of wanting to do it her way, she and Ron decided to move to St. George and open DUB’s BBQ in 2007.
For a person who never had any customer service experience, and it definitely showed at times, no one was more loved at DUB’s than Rhonda. Every day she asked about their lives, and many professed the love they have for her. Something she never for a second would assume for herself. She will be missed and remembered every single day at DUB's.
“When I first met her, she kind of scared me!”, was a comment that so many have made about our mom, who stood 5' tall and was about 90 lbs. soaking wet. But when you got to know her, she became one of your favorite people. Mom was afraid of nothing and if she was, you'd never know it. Her two sons wanted for nothing growing up. She never sought credit, just the satisfaction that her kids had everything they ever wanted. She loved to go boating, camping, shopping, and enjoyed gambling in Mesquite. She loved her dogs more than most people and gave the best animal advice. She loved her grandkids who spanned the age range of 27 years to almost 2 years old. Mom was an excellent cook, whose fried chicken will never be beat.
Rhonda leaves behind an army of family, friends and loved ones. Her sisters, Dina of Enoch, Utah, Sandy of Draper, Utah, her sons, Cameron (Chelsea) Devey and Randy Devey, and six grandchildren, Hailey, Kooper, Kash, Cruz, Avery and Maverick. She is proceeded in death by her parents and her husband, Ron.
Since her passing many have said, "I just loved her.” She would probably blush or say "Oh, they do not!” But they do...we all do. We love you, Rhonda, Mom, Mama, Grandma Rhonda, Babies, Boss-lady, and will, always and forever.
A celebration of Rhonda’s life will be held at a later date.
