Mark "Pink" Edwin Black

Mark Black, born on December 19, 1951, in Hurricane, Utah, to Lewis Edwin Black and Darlene Rosalba Brunolt Black, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024 with his beloved niece Jessica by his side. Mark found his greatest joy and peace in the hills, particularly on the Arizona Strip, where he spent countless hours with his best friend Lyman. He was happiest surrounded by nature, Capturing the beauty of wildlife and landscape to share with Jessica, during their frequent visits.

Mark married Laurie on December 7, 1990, in Elko, Nevada. They made their home in Oakley, Idaho, where they embraced the small-town life they both adored. They were married 22 years before she was called home by our Heavenly Father. After Laurie’s passing in 2012, Mark remained in Oakley for several years before moving south to Cane Beds AZ. This move brought him closer to home, where he was welcomed by family and old friends, and it was a source of happiness for those who loved him.

Throughout his life, Mark worked in St. George, Las Vegas and Battle Mountain Nevada where he drove truck. He was known for his caring nature, his heart of gold, and his adventurous spirit. Mark’s younger days were filled with stories that could make anyone laugh in disbelief—tales of fun, mischief, and the light-hearted pranks that made him the life of the party. He was the one who always got the shenanigans started, often seen giving people the bunny ears in photos, a gesture that perfectly encapsulated his playful personality.

An avid reader, Mark had a deep love for country music, Louis L’Amour books and Westerns, whether on the page or on the screen. You could always find him tinkering on his vehicles and sharing his knowledge of vehicles and dirt roads.

Mark will be remembered as a man who was loved by all who knew him, and who brought joy, laughter, and love into the lives of many. Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Laurie Albertson Black, his father, Lewis Edwin Black, his sister, Carol Ann Bench, and his faithful companion, Chester the dog. Mark is survived by his mother Darlene Black, siblings Ron (Anita) Black of Fredonia, AZ, Linda Gallegos of Las Vegas NV, Lane Black of Roosevelt UT, and many nieces and nephews.

The family enjoyed a private celebration of Mark's life on Saturday August 24th, 2024.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. Family and friends are invited to view Mark’s obituary page and share memories at www.SpilsburyMortuary.com
