Honolulu, Hawaii - MariArohanui Leilani Lilliukalani Barlow-Mesi, 33, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025, at 4:20 pm x 444 Angel Numbers.
Born in a snowstorm at 7:17 am on 1/17, Leilani was a force to be reckoned with. Weighing only 4 pounds 9 ounces and 2 weeks late, she entered this world on her terms. She was born at the American Fork Hospital in Utah to Geni Rebecca Barlow.
She was a stubborn, tiny girl with a huge heart. It got even bigger as she welcomed her 3 baby brothers, always wanting to hold them as her babies. Growing up, she danced to the beat of her own drum and created her own paths. She loved to travel and explore. She loved to cook, and she was always giving her food and material possessions away, stating, "I like to share!" It got to the point we'd argue because I'd provided those things for her, and she felt others needed it more.
She attended Esthetician School in Salt Lake City, Utah. I remember when she was in college, her roommates used her car more than she did because she said, "they need rides to work." She loved thrift stores, crazy weird frames, and rare art pieces. She loved time with family. She loved to cook for everyone, especially for the holidays - those were her favorite meals to provide.
She never missed giving a gift for Mother's Day, a birthday, or Christmas. Most were homemade letters; she was always writing letters and journaling. Her brothers, their wives, and her nieces and nephews covered her apartment walls; she loved being able to see their faces daily, even living far away. She was strong, independent, self-reliant, and stubborn. Few did she let see her vulnerable side when she was sad and lonely; only those she truly trusted.
The last thing she journaled was to her mother and brothers: "I NEED YOU.'' She passed away as she wished in a calm, safe, and sacred space surrounded by her 3 brothers, her mother, & Timu.
Leilani is survived by her mother, Geni (Timu) LakalakaManupuna of Honolulu, Hawaii, her Father Aleipata Mesi Jr. of Panama City Beach, Florida, and her three brothers: Solomon Barlow-Mesi (Carly,Ella,Mia & Leo) of St. George; Aleipata (Caitlyn) Mesi of St. George, and FaamanuiamssagaNoah (Yesi, Tua & Kaehlei Nia-Peka) of St. George.
