Kristine Turley Gardner, 66, passed away with family on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. She was born on June 25, 1956, in Brawley, California, to Marion Turley and June Clark Turley. She was married to Brent Gardner on June 2, 1978, in the Provo, Utah, Temple.
Kristine was raised in the deserts of California in the small town of Brawley, a large farming and cattle ranching community by the border of Mexico. Here she gained an appreciation of delicious Mexican food. She then was whisked away her senior year of high school with her family to Provo, Utah. Here she caught a glimpse of the boy in her local Provo ward that she would eventually marry. Kristine attended BYU and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, met Brent again after his mission, and they were married. Kristine had her first child while living in Provo and then moved to St. George with her small family and over the next 17 years gave birth to six more children that consumed much of her time and attention, and put her elementary education to the test.
Kristine lived a life full of service. Her priority was to her faith in God and her family. She then used the rest of her time to serve those around her in need. Taking the time to listen to friends and neighbors who needed it, taking meals to those in need, sharing her many talents from singing in choirs to sewing quilts. Because of all her years suffering from cancer, she had so much empathy for others and helped so many around her who were suffering as well. Her positivity and vigor for life was unlike any other. If you knew Kristine, you knew her strength and goodness.
She is survived by Brent Gardner in St. George, Utah; children Todd (Rakel), Chad ( Melinda), Troy (Amy), Nichole (Casey), Kurt (Amber), Neil (Kortney), and Cade (Reagen); 23 grandchildren; sisters Carolyn Jaquith and Marilyn Smartt; brothers Steven and Clifton Turley. She is preceded in death by Douglas Turley and DeAnne Hill.
