Our beautiful wife and mother, Judy Jensen Key, of Hurricane, Utah, passed away on December 16, 2024. She was 84.
Judy was born in Boise, Idaho on October 21, 1940, to Norris Parley Jensen and Lillian Loveland Jensen. Judy was first married to Douglas Bates Massey on November 10, 1962, in Grandview, Idaho. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple one year later. After Doug's passing, Judy married Chester LeRoy Key on January 11, 2003, in Kingman, Arizona.
The most important thing to Judy was the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a Lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Judy loved the gospel and her savior more than anything. She truly embodied a Christ-like love for others and it showed as she served in the many callings she held throughout her life. Just a few of the callings she served in included Relief Society President, Primary President, Stake Choir Director, Stake Relief Society President, Stake Primary President, and everything in between.
Second only to her devotion to the gospel of Jesus Christ, was her love for her family. At the time of her death, Judy was married to LeRoy Key. She has six children, Richard, Linda, Wade, Tiffany (Seth), Darren (Jen), and Heather (Joe). She was also a wonderful bonus mom to Diana (Les), Chester (Ellen), and Ginia. Judy absolutely loved and adored all of her 33 grandchildren & great-grandchildren, along with her bonus 16 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Judy loved supporting her children in all of their many activities from baseball to cheerleading. She rarely missed a game. Judy never let anything in life stop her from getting what she wanted. A favorite family story was a time when all of her children and many of her grandchildren were playing a friendly game of baseball. She wanted to play so bad that she climbed a tall chain-link fence to get on the field and show all of her kids up.
Judy, born a twin, remained close with all of her siblings, especially her twin brother Jack. They constantly teased each other, burst out into song together, and made those around them laugh until their sides ached. Nobody was as feisty as Judy; and even though she was only 5'2", she was very mighty, witty, and hilarious.
Judy is survived by her husband LeRoy of Hurricane, Utah, and five of her children: Linda of Hurricane, Utah, Wade of American Fork, Utah, Tiffany of Hurricane, Utah, Darren of El Paso, Texas, Heather of Little Rock, Arkansas, Diana of Kingman, Arizona, Chester of Kingman, Arizona, and Ginia of Peoria, Arizona. She also maintained a close relationship with her former daughters-in-law Verlin Leavitt of Conway, South Carolina, and Lauri Massey of American Fork, Utah.
Judy's parents, her brothers Lamont, Blaine, Rex, her sister Kathleen, her late husband Douglas Massey, and her son Richard Douglas Massey were all on the other side of the veil to welcome her home.
Services for Judy will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 155 East 1050 North, Hurricane, Utah, 84737. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. followed by the funeral services at 12 noon.
Our family would like to thank the remarkable staff in the intensive care unit at St. George Regional Hospital. Their love and kindness brought our family so much peace. To our most special nurses Beth & Lindsay, we can never repay you for how you so tenderly cared for our wife and mother, laughed with us, cried with us, and mourned our profound loss with us.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the missionary funds in your local stakes and wards, or make a donation in Judy's name to your favorite charity.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary. 435-673-2454. Family and friends are invited to view Judy's obituary and share memories on her digital memorial page at www.SpilsburyMortuary.com
