John Monson Stuart was born June 14, 1945, in Cheverly, Maryland. His parents are Irma Monson and Franklin Richard Stuart. His siblings and spouses are Irma Jane (Hugh) Roberts, Franklin Richard (Vivian) Stuart, Elna (Ralph) Adams.
While he was going to college, he married Melva Carranza and later had two children, Sonja (Carl) Rio and Dave (Marlenne) Stuart. Melva and John divorced after 18 years of marriage.
John is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a Spanish American Mission for two years starting in 1965.
After graduating from college, he went to work for the federal government as an Administrator in the Department of Commerce at the Census Bureau in Washington D.C., Atlanta, Georgia, Denver, Colorado, Puerto Rico, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 2005, he married Janice LaRue Elkins in Spanish Fork, Utah. During their life together, they lived in Provo, Utah, Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Winchester, Virginia, and Saint George, Utah. In that marriage, he acquired four stepchildren Bobbi Elkins, Becki (Jay) Coley, Brendi (Jeff) Heath, and Wesly Elkins. He has twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, in-laws, sister, and stepdaughter.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 5:00pm - 7:00 pm at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S Bluff Street, St. George, Utah.
A second viewing will be on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 12:00 – 12:45 pm with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm at Spilsbury Mortuary.

Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery in Saint George, Utah.
