Jana Grant Huntsman

August 12, 1949 — April 24, 2023

New Harmony

Jana Grant Huntsman of New Harmony, Utah, passed away at St. George Regional Medical Center on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the age of 73. Jana was born to parents Charles and Geraldine Grant on August 12, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married her soulmate, Ned Huntsman, in the St. George Temple on October 15, 1983. She was also the devoted mother of five children, twelve grandchildren (and two furbabies), and four great-grandchildren.

When she wasn’t with her family, Jana was devoted to her work as a nurse. She graduated from UNLV (then called Nevada Southern University) in 1969 and began her work as a nurse in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nursing was a vocation that she would continue for more than 50 years. Her work as a nurse took her to some of the most challenging spaces in healthcare, from the ICU to the ER and even working as a life-flight nurse. Near the end of her life, she worked at a home for at-risk youth and was well-loved by the residents.

Jana and her children moved to New Harmony, Utah, after she married Ned. Together, they worked side by side on his family’s farm where Jana was a tirelessly hard worker for many years. She was also a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and, together with her husband, they served as primary teachers for many years in addition to other callings.

Jana loved spending time in her yard, maintaining her lawn while watching the wild turkeys and deer. She loved reading and watching Hallmark movies, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Jana was endlessly generous with her time and her advice, often using her knowledge of healthcare to help others in her community. As a nurse, a mother, and in all the roles she played, she gave endlessly of herself for the service of others.

Jana is survived by four children: Brian McCoy (Bobbie), Jason McCoy (Kristin), Heather Stuart (Rob), and Matthew Huntsman (Samantha); her mother, Geraldine Grant; siblings (Russell, Leigh, Curt, Gail, and Jenny) as well as twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ned Huntsman, her son, Brandon, and her father, Charles Grant.
