Grant Seymour Mitchell, 94 years old, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024. He was born on January 18, 1930, in Roosevelt, Utah to Seymour Young Mitchell and Gladys Wilkins Mitchell. He had two brothers, Kay Mitchell and Orman Mitchell.
After high school Grant had various jobs and then joined the Navy as a radar operator on November 15, 1950, and served until September 9,1954, during the Korean War. After leaving the Navy Grant was married for a few years and had a daughter Gail Mitchell. He then went to work at Convair Aeronautics as an electronics technician. On June 16, 1961, he married Belva Jane Kidd in the Los Angeles Temple in California. They had three sons, Michael, Robert, and Darrin.
He purchased a gas/service station in Lancaster, California and in1969 they sold the service station and moved back to St. George, Utah to be closer to family, and bought a home in Washington, Utah. Shortly after they arrived, Grant went to work as a service technician for Pepsi Cola and retired from there in 1996.
Grant enjoyed his time working at the Temple, fishing, deer hunting, growing a vegetable garden and spending time in Pinto at their cabin. He dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his youngest brother Orman Mitchell, daughter Gail (Thomas), Mike (Wendie), Rob (Erin), and Darrin (Nicole) plus 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, brother Kay Mitchell and his beloved wife BJ.
Services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Washington Main Street Chapel, 82 North Main Street in Washington, Utah, with public viewing from 11:30 to 12:30 and services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Graveside interment services will follow at the Washington Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dixie Home Rehab and Hospice for their excellent care of Dad in his final days and Spilsbury Mortuary for their services to Dad and the family.
