Gloria "Jean" Offret Reynolds, 82, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, in St. George, Utah.
Born November 3, 1942, in Park City, Utah, in her grandparents' home on Park Ave, to Vincent L. and Phyllis Martinez Offret. She married Deil K. Gordon, and they had a daughter. They later divorced. She met and married the love of her life Richard "Dick" Reynolds. They were married in Ely Nevada on May 7, 1966. Together, they had a daughter. Mom gained 3 sons and another daughter when she married Dick.
Jean was a 3rd generation Park City Native. She attended Marsac Elementary and Park City High School, graduating in 1961. She lived all of her life in Park City, with the exception of a short time in Oakland, California, where Dad was able to find work. We also lived in Idaho for a summer in a camper while Dick put in a ski lift at the Bogus Basin Ski Resort. We did a lot of camping around Idaho during that time. Camping was something Mom enjoyed doing. At one point Dick and Jean had property in Midway, Utah. It was the perfect place to camp. We named it Camp Reynolds, and we had a camp mascot, "Camp Jazzy." She hosted many fun weekends up there with her family. We quickly learned not to have her hold your drink for you. If the ice started to melt or got heavy, she would save the drink by drinking it for you. Mom had a fear of water, but she enjoyed spending the day out on the party boat; we'd pack lunch and just troll around the lake. Jean worked at ParkWest Ski Resort as a lift supervisor and ski instructor for several years. Dick and Jean have a winter home in St. George where they've made many friends who've become family to them. They would go on 4-wheeler rides and have weenie roasts, or drive to Mesquite and have some dinner. They enjoyed traveling down to Quartzsite, Arizona, to spend a week or so with friends. Mom enjoyed shopping at the shops there. Years ago, they would go square dancing with the oldest son, Glen, and his wife, Jeri. That's the only time you would see Mom in a skirt.
She hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve gatherings and was always a nervous wreck, worried it wouldn't turn out. But it always did, and enough food to feed an army. Many fun memories playing games, laughing, and teasing.
Jean is survived by her loving husband Dick, daughter Gina Kaye Gordon Thurgood, daughter Shelly (Randy) Schwab, son Randy (Jan) Reynolds, son Jeff (Norma) Reynolds, daughter Cindy (Bryan) Golsan. 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Sister Rita Smith, brother Mike (Lynne) Offret, and Uncle Tom Martinez.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a son Glen Reynolds, and a brother-in-law Ted Smith.
An evening Prayer Vigil & Viewing will be held Monday, April 14, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Old St. Mary's Church. 121 Park Avenue, Park City, Utah 84060.
