Glen Richard Anderson

Glen Richard Anderson

Glen Richard Anderson, 74, passed away at home with his wife by his side. He had struggled with health issues over the past few years, and he passed due to stage 4 COPD and endocarditis of the heart.

Glen was born on January 2, 1951, in Denver, Colorado, to Carl Richard Anderson and Ruby May Hopkins Anderson. He was the third child with an older sister and brother. When Glen was 13 months old, the family moved to Beryl valley, where they started farming. Glen loved the freedom of the wide-open spaces. He learned to work hard and play hard too.

Glen attended Escalante Valley Elementary, and later he attended Cedar Junior High and Cedar High School. Glen enjoyed automotive and industrial arts in high school, so when he graduated in 1969, he went to Western Technical College in Denver, Colorado. He graduated in Automotive Technology. After returning home, he moved to Cedar City to work at U&S Motors.

In 1977, he married Lorna Bunker from Enterprise. They had two children and later divorced. Glen eventually started his own business, Beryl Automotive. He loved working on customers' cars, tractors, and other equipment. Many friends and customers called him "Motor God." He took such pride in doing good work.

In his later work life, Glen worked for several companies doing maintenance of equipment. He worked for Apex Mine, OMG, and Gilbert Development Company. He retired from Wheeler Machinery in 2014.

Glen loved cars all his life. His first car was a 1955 Chevy. He souped the engine up and raced at drag races. He also enjoyed driving in demolition derbies. He was a champion several times. He was always happiest under the hood of a car, hyping up an engine or diagnosing a problem.

Glen was a hard worker all his life. He was busy helping on the farm, working his job, or finding ways to help friends or others. He had a big heart that touched other lives in many good ways.

Glen loved being out in nature. He explored old mines, valleys, mountains, and sand dunes. He often jumped into his Samurai with his dog Kella for an adventure. He loved camping and hunting with friends and eating good Dutch oven food.

Glen reached out to his high school sweetheart on Facebook, and they reunited and got married. They shared memories and happy moments until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Jimmy. He is survived by his wife, Geneal Jones Anderson, his sister Marguerite Hamm, and his two children.
