In Loving Memory of Ethan Michael Cookson.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished Ethan, who left us on November 30, 2024, at the age of 24. His laughter, kindness, and bright soul brought light to all who knew him. The pain of his loss is immeasurable, and his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
Ethan was born on May 19, 2000, in Provo Utah. From the moment of his birth, he brought love, and joy into our lives. Although Ethan faced many challenges due to a very rare genetic disorder called TBCK Syndrome, he touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Ethan was a true fighter who showed strength and resilience each and every day. He had an incredible ability to bring smiles to those around him through his laugh, his shenanigans, and the love he gave so freely. He was never able to speak, but the language of love and happiness was always evident in his gentle presence.
Whether it was spending time with his brother Riley, or cuddling with his doggy Maya, Ethan found joy in the simple things. Ethan loved to eat, and he had two private chefs. His stepfather an Italian chef and his stepmother a Japanese chef. They both introduced him to a world of extraordinary cuisine, offering him a variety of flavors from around the globe that few others would ever have the privilege to experience.
Ethan and his father played a pivotal role in working with the Draper City Council to bring a special needs park to the community. At the grand opening, Ethan was honored for his contributions and had a blast riding the merry-go-round and going down the slide.
Ethan is survived by his father and stepmother, Michael and Izumi Cookson, his mother and stepfather Hailey and Robert Teta, siblings Madeline Cookson, Kiara Hamada, Riley Hamada, Izella Cookson, Hayley Teta, Chelsey Teta. Grandparents Sharon Cookson, Madeline Johnson, Ramon and Cyndi Johnson and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
We would also like to acknowledge the love and support of David Johnson, who was married to Hailey and played an important role in Ethan's life during their time together. And Ethan's friend Daniel Crouch, who has helped over the years with adaptive modifications to the house including several wheelchair ramps. Daniel always loved to see Ethan and never failed getting a good chuckle out of him. While we mourn the loss of our precious Ethan, we are forever grateful for the time we were blessed to have with him.
A memorial service will be held on December 22, 2024, at 11:00 am at Spilsbury Mortuary, where we will celebrate the life of our beautiful son. In lieu of flowers, our family has accumulated various health equipment that we would like to donate to other families with special needs. We would greatly appreciate any assistance in delivering this equipment to those families. If you'd like to help, please consider contributing via Venmo @Hailey-Teta.
Though our hearts are heavy with sadness, we take comfort in knowing that Ethan is now at peace. You will forever live in our hearts, Ethan. Rest in peace, sweet angel.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary. 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454. Family and friends are invited to sign Ethan’s digital memorial page at www.SpilsburyMortuary.com
