Washington, Utah - Elaine Agren Porter, 81, passed away from an interstitial lung disease on Friday, November 22, 2024.

 Elaine was born on June 23,1943, in Rexburg, ID, to Carl and Ila Hayes Agren. She married Arthur LeRoy Porter on January 8, 1965, in the Idaho Falls Temple.

 Elaine was raised in small farming communities in the Rexburg area. She was loved by all who knew her for her happy, kind demeanor and willingness to serve. She graduated from Madison High School as co-valedictorian (1961), Ricks College (1963), and BYU (1965). In high school she played piano with a jazz band and continued playing throughout her life. She enjoyed wood-working, sewing, crocheting, knitting, reading, traveling, watching BYU sports, and watching birds and wildlife from her cabin on Henry’s Fork of the Snake River in Island Park, ID, surrounded by family.

 She met Art in junior high, and together they lived in Palo Alto, CA; Brussels, Belgium; Madrid, Spain; Campinas, Brazil; Rexburg, ID; Cedar City, UT; and Washington, UT. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Relief Society president twice and Young Women president. She and Art served as mission presidents of the Venezuela Maracaibo Mission. They also served as the Argentina MTC presidents, Costa Rica Temple presidents, and as ordinance workers in the Panama, St. George, Cedar City, and Red Cliffs Temples. 

 She leaves behind husband Art Porter of Washington, UT; children Arthur James (Kelly) of Idaho Falls, ID; Hilary (David) Parry of Tucson, AZ; Jeremy Carl (Tamra) of Salt Lake City, UT; Monica (Michael Rivera) of Alexandria, VA; and Chelsea Beth (Matt) Rowan of Broomfield, CO; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Sallie (Mark) Shelton of Toquerville, UT; and brother Stuart (Pam) Agren of Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in death by son Brent David (Tina Smith) of St. George, UT; sister Rochelle (Elvin) Whitney of St. George, UT; and brothers Brian Carl (late Wanda Seeley), and Philip Neal.

 Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, at the LDS chapel at 1950 N. Coral Canyon Blvd, Washington, UT. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 6, at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St, St. George, UT, and from 9-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, at the funeral location. Interment will take place in the Washington, UT cemetery.
