Washington, Utah –
Edith Ann Moore Nichols
Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Edith, or Edie as she liked to be called, grew up a single child. A strong group of friends made up for the lack of siblings, and she grew up in loving family and community.
An interest in Nursing led to graduation from Duke University School of Nursing, and a marriage to Paul F. Nichols, Jr, who earned his Ph.D. from William and Mary. After a move to the west coast Edie earned her Bachelor’s degree at San Diego State University, and was very busy raising two sons, Paul and Clay.
Most of her adult years were spent in San Diego, CA, and she settled into a career as a Public Health Nurse, working for the County of San Diego. Much of her time was spent as a school nurse, as well as making family visits to underserved families in the back country of San Diego County.
She eventually retired from the County of San Diego to settle into retirement with her husband. She was an avid knitter, earning several awards for her hobby at the Del Mar fair. She had a love for roses, cats, and the beautiful beaches of San Diego. She and her husband were also avid fans of Duke basketball and always made time to watch the games.
A loving, caring woman, and a country girl to the end, she is preceded in death by her husband, and is survived by her sons Paul and Clay. May she rest in peace.
