Diane Eve Wirth, passed away on October 22, 2024 at the age of 86. Born on July 22, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, Diane lived a life rich in intellect, creativity, and dedication to her family.
Diane's educational journey took her from the vibrant streets of Chicago to Brigham Young University, where she earned Bachelor of Arts in Art, specializing in Mesoamerican Iconography. Her passion for anthropology led her to study as a Special Postgraduate Student at Harvard University, further enriching her understanding of cultural narratives. Over a decade, she actively participated in Maya Meetings at the University of Texas, Austin, deepening her expertise and engagement in Mesoamerican studies.
A prolific writer, Diane authored several significant works that reflect her scholarly interests. In 1978, she released "Discoveries of the Truth," followed by "A Challenge to the Critics: Scholarly Evidences of the Book of Mormon" in 1986. Her later publications include "Parallels: Mesoamerican and Ancient Middle Eastern Traditions" (2003), "Decoding Ancient America: A Guide to the Archaeology of the Book of Mormon" (2007), and "Weaving Golden Threads: Early Christianity and its Restoration" (2015). Through her writing, she made substantial contributions to the fields of archaeology and religious studies, inspiring many with her insights.
Diane was married to her husband, Fred Wirth, in Las Vegas, Nevada, celebrating a remarkable union spanning 60 years. Together, they nurtured a loving family, which includes their sons, Dave and Doug, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Diane's legacy will continue through her family.
Funeral services for Diane Wirth will be held on Friday, October 25th.
