Dell Crawford Stout

Dell Crawford Stout, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2022. Dell was born on September 20, 1933, in Hurricane, Utah. He was the 15th and youngest child born to Marion Fisk and Mary Crawford Stout.

Dell spent his childhood and adult life living in Hurricane, where he attended elementary and high school. He also attended 2 years of college in Cedar City. It was at Hurricane High school that he first met his sweetheart, Corinne Stratton. They married on March 20, 1953, in the St. George Temple.

Dell was a successful businessman for many years. He and his brother Boyd started, operated, and owned Stout Home Furnishings in Hurricane. He also partnered with his brother Elton and with his sons on many other business ventures.

Dell served on many local community councils and boards and was the Mayor of Hurricane for 4 years. During this time, he focused on current and future programs to improve the city and to allow for future growth and development in many areas. He also served as a member of SkyWest’s Board of Directors for over 20 years. Dell also served in the Boy Scouts of America program where he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, scouting’s highest distinction.

Dell was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many leadership positions including as a bishop and a counselor in the Stake Presidency. Dell and Corinne served 2 missions together, one in the Florida Orlando mission and another in the Utah South Mission. Dell was a sealer at the St.George Temple, one of his favorite and last callings.

Dell is survived by his wife Corinne of Hurricane and children Dennis (Sandy) Stout, Deward (Stafeen) Stout, Keith (JoAnn) Stout, Marsha (John) Postert, Laron (Amy) Stout, Dorene (Josh) Libertor, Carolee (Brett) Poulson all of Hurricane; Denae (Gary) Adams of Roy, UT, Melissa (Tanner) Cropper of Ashland, OR, (Myrna) Stout of St. George, UT, Alberta Smallcanyon (foster daughter) of Shiprock, NM; 46 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren! He is preceded in death by his parents, all 14 of his siblings, and 3 sons, Ronald, Kelly, and Roger Stout.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 11 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 677 S 700 W, Hurricane, Utah.

A viewing will be held Friday, February 25, from 6-8 pm and Saturday 9-10:30 am at the same chapel. Interment will take place at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
