David Andrew Black, 58 passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021. David was born June 21, 1963, and was the first of 10 children born to David Estes and Alida Witt Black. He married Nancy Viola Jessop on September 17, 1985, in Colorado City Arizona.
David grew up in several places including Colorado City, Arizona, Provo, Utah, and Logan, Utah. In 1981 he graduated from Granger High School. David loved science, mathematics, and astronomy. He graduated with his Bachelor’s of Education from Southern Utah University and went on to obtain a Master’s Degree and other various certifications. He taught math, astronomy, and P.E. at Colorado City Unified School District #14 (CCUSD) for many years. David was very smart and was also an IT Tech. He wrote computer programs and designed websites. David loved technology. He also loved fishing. He loved his family and he loved to have fun with all the children. He always tried his best to look after his younger siblings. He liked experimenting with food in the kitchen, and he loved flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and their children: Mellissa A. Barlow (Jesse Barlow), N. Rose Black, Andrea Lydia Johnson (Alma Johnson), Nicole Jessop (Jeremiah Jessop III), Andrew A. Black, Albert M. Black, George E. Black, Cassiopia Black, and LaRue Black, along with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and siblings. He is preceded in death by his father, David E. Black, and his brother, Lorin A, Black, his great-grandparents Leroy S. Johnson (Uncle Roy) and Josephine Ford Johnson.
Funeral and viewing will be held at Spilsbury Mortuary in St. George as follows: viewing Monday, November 15, 6:00-8:00 pm, viewing Tuesday, November 16, 11:30-12:30, and funeral services Tuesday, November 16, 1:00-2:30 pm. Graveside services and interment in the Isaac W. Carling Memorial Park in Colorado City, Arizona.
