St. George, Utah. D'Arcy Eugene Grisier, age 93, passed away on January 24, 2025. He was born on June 1, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, to Leo Oran and Cecil (Glore) Grisier.
D'Arcy married Okalene Taylor on February 20, 1954, in Quantico, Virginia.
D'Arcy was raised in Wauseon, Ohio, graduated from Wauseon High School in 1949, and joined the Marine Corps right out of High School. He served one tour in Korea, and two tours in Vietnam; He was an instructor at Marine Corps Schools in Parris Island, South Carolina, and served two years abroad on the aircraft carrier, Coral Sea, two years in the Marine Corps Historical Branch in Washington D.C., two years at the Pacific Stars & Stripes in Tokyo, two years at El Toro, California, and the remainder at Marine Corps Head Quarters, where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. After retirement from the Marine Corps, he worked at Lockheed International in Ontario, California; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and London, England.
After retirement from Lockheed, D'Arcy started his own wholesale picture framing business and finally retired permanently in 2003 and moved to St. George, Utah, where he was a Temple Worker for 10 years.
He is survived by his spouse of 70 years, Okalene Taylor Grisier, of St. George, Utah; his two sons Charles of San Diego, California, and Jeff of St. George, Utah; two daughters-in-law Susan Grisier of Santa Clara, Utah, and Roberta Grisier of Caddo Mills, Texas; Six Grandchildren: Sean Grisier (Texas), Kelly Grisier (Maryland), Darcy Barton (Maryland), Nathan Grisier (Salt Lake City, Utah), Noelle Whipple (St. George, Utah), Natalie Grisier (Santa Clara, Utah); and his brother Melvin (Melva) Grisier (Wauseon, Ohio).
D'Arcy is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Frances Yackee, his son Col. D'Arcy E. Grisier II, and his granddaughter, Nicole Grisier.
A funeral service will be held at Spilsbury Mortuary on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11:00 am. 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah 84770. A viewing will be held at the same location prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Tonaquint Cemetery where D'arcy will receive full military honors. 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
