Charlotte Cooke Dutson was born in Hildale, Utah, on September 17, 1951, to George Lynn and Beth Black Cooke. She died March 25, 2025, in St. George, Utah, due to complications from surgery after a fall.
Charlotte was raised in Hildale, Utah, and attended school through eighth grade in Hildale School. She graduated from Colorado City Academy in May of 1969. She married Bygnal Dutson in 1971 and between her, Sylvia, Marjorie, and Lucricia, they raised a large family.
Charlotte loved the children and grandchildren, and they all loved her very much. Charlotte also loved working with people. She had an amazing work ethic and a sense of humor that made it fun to work with her. Charlotte's personality drew people in. She was not afraid to speak her mind, and her conversations were lively and interesting.
She worked with the Dutson Grandmas making candy for the different holidays throughout the year and had many customers in the tri-state area. From that effort, they built a small shop for making candy, which eventually became a sandwich shop. People from all the surrounding towns would come there for refreshment, good conversations with delicious food, and rest from their travels. She took great pride in her culinary creations and would jokingly tell her employees if they leaked her recipes, she would have to kill them.
She is survived by her three children, Melany, John and Hilda, and many others that she mothered and loved in her life. She has twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bygnal (2016), a brother, a son, Merlin, and both of her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary. 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. A viewing prior to the funeral will begin at 9:00 a.m. Following the services, the burial will be at Isaac W. Carling Memorial Park. 500 Township Avenue, Colorado City, Arizona.
