Charles Glossaur Miller

Charles Glossauer Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, passed away peacefully at his home in St. George, Utah on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Charlie was 83 years old.

Charlie was born on October 20, 1940, in Provo, Utah, to Charles Dresden Miller and Olga Komarkova Miller. He spent his childhood in Salt Lake City where he earned his Eagle Scout and Arrow of Light. He attended East High School where he excelled as an All-State first baseman. Charlie's love for baseball continued throughout his life as he played in various baseball and softball leagues. He was the all-time, number one, Dodger’s fan.

After graduating from the University of Utah with degrees in History and Biological Sciences, Charlie embarked on an incredible journey of service. He served in various church callings, including nine different Bishopric’s. From 1960 to 1963, he served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Austria.

Charlie also dedicated several years of service as a medic in the Utah National Guard. His commitment to helping others extended beyond his military service. He found great fulfillment as a teacher and touched countless lives during his time at Millcreek High School. Teaching was not just a career for Charlie; it was his passion.

In addition to teaching, Charlie pursued a successful career as a real estate broker and appraiser. His expertise and dedication were well-known among colleagues and clients alike. Throughout his professional life, he always strived for excellence and achieved great success.

While Charlie had many accomplishments professionally, nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family. He married the love of his life, Diane Leavitt, on August 23, 1965, in Salt Lake City. Together they raised three children: Matthew Miller (Hollie) from St. George, Utah, Valerie Warner (Gill) from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Marianne Huntsman (James) from Salt Lake City, Utah.

Charlie was adored by his 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He leaves a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, and fun memories. Charlie's favorite pastimes were playing games with his children and grandchildren, and spending time with friends, creating bonds that will forever be cherished.

In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed restoring antique furniture and traveling with Diane. The couple shared a passion for exploring new places, and their favorite destinations included Austria and Prague, where his mother was raised. Charlie's adventurous spirit and curiosity enriched his life and the lives of those around him.

Charlie is survived by his dear wife Diane, who will always hold his memory close to her heart. He is also survived by his siblings Richard H. Miller (Sherry) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Annetta Link of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ruth.
