Brenda Leone Memmott Leavitt, age 61, passed away on Sunday January 30, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born September 24th, 1960, in Nephi Utah to Pete and Sharlene Hughes Memmott. Brenda was the 2nd of the 6 Memmott daughters. They moved around for several years, but in 1969 the family moved to St. George, UT and stayed. Most everyone in St. George knew the family as “Pete’s Girls” from Pete’s Taxi Service. Brenda graduated from Dixie High School in 1979. On April 21, 1979, Brenda married Glenn Leavitt from Hurricane. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George temple. Together Glenn and Brenda had 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. After 35 years of marriage, they divorced.
While they were raising their children Glenn’s job took him out of town a lot so Brenda would pack up the kids and go camping somewhere near his work. During those years, she was able to pass on her love for the mountains, 4-wheeling, and fishing to each of her children. Brenda spent many years teaching and owning preschools throughout Southern Utah. She was an avid bowler and made lifelong friends from the leagues at Dixie Bowl. If you knew Brenda, you knew of her love for all things Disney, especially Mickey and Minnie Mouse. She went to Disneyland every chance she could and loved collecting all things Disney. She was even able to experience Disneyland in Paris. Brenda loved to craft and to decorate her yard with windchimes, birdfeeders, and antiques. Her pride and joy were her grandkids and she supported them in everything they were involved in. Brenda was always up for an adventure, so she sold her home 2 years ago, bought a motorhome and was ready to travel the country. Then COVID hit and put the brakes on her travel plans. She lived the last few years in Beaver Dam and made some wonderful friends during her time there.
Brenda is survived by her children and 17 grandchildren: Amy (Dan) Stocking of Las Vegas, NV; Pete (Tyra) Leavitt of Enterprise, UT; Lloyd (Katie) Leavitt of Hurricane, UT; April (Justin) Schear of Laverkin, UT; Eric Leavitt of Hurricane, UT: her ex-husband Glenn Leavitt of Hurricane, UT: her parents Pete and Sharlene Memmott of St. George, UT: sisters Tisha Butcher of Moroni, UT; Cindy (Rob) Hyde of Richfield, UT; Blanche (Michael) Barnum of Orem, UT; Launa (JR) Farnsworth of Washington, UT; and Hope (Randy) Clyde of St. George, UT.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Brenda had a special bond with her Grandma Hughes, and we know they are having a great reunion on the other side.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday February 11th at 11:30 am at the Hurricane City Cemetery with a viewing prior from 9-11 am at the Hurricane Stake Center 677 S. 700 W.
