Boldan Trent Barlow passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident on September 14, 2024, in Colorado City, AZ. He was born August 17, 2003, to Terril Barlow Sr and Holly Jessop at Hildale, UT, the sixth of fourteen children. He was the fourth of their 9 sons.
Boldan miraculously survived a very traumatic birth. His head had crowned, but the umbilical cord was double wrapped so tightly around his neck he could not be born. The midwife was able to cut the cord that was deeply embedded into his throat. He came into this life with the loudest Viking battle scream ever heard – much to the relief of all present…and promptly went into shock. He was so bruised and puffy from his birth; it was nearly three weeks before his mother realized what a remarkably beautiful baby he was.
The Barlow family grew rapidly, and Boldan was the middle of it all. He was a happy child, prone to accidents, sassy remarks, and playful mischief. He was seldom alone and enjoyed playing and working with his many siblings and cousins. He taught all his younger siblings how to tie their shoes and ride a bike.
Boldan attended school at home with his siblings. From the age of 10 to 14 years old, he worked with his brothers doing yardwork and lawn care. Together, they helped take care of the family financially while their father lived away from home. He was a steady worker and had good rapport with customers, even at a young age. Later, he took a job making concrete logs to help support his mother and the children. Whether working or relaxing, he enjoyed spending time with his people.
When he was seventeen, he accepted the opportunity to work with his father and older brothers in Gunnison, Colorado. He spent two years doing siding, carpentry, and landscaping with them and reestablishing the relationship with his Father. They had been separated for 9 years. On the job and at home he was a cheerful companion and helpful friend.
In November 2022, Boldan took a job as Shop Manager for Crushing Screening Services. He enjoyed his work and associations with men of a common background. He also enjoyed meeting new people and was an interested listener to their stories. His cheerful, helpful disposition and mechanic skills made him a magnet to many young men. He understood mechanics, valued friendships and time spent with them fixing trucks, machines, dirt bikes, and motorcycles. He enjoyed riding motorbikes and camping with ‘the bros”. He had many, many friends, but his best friends were at home. Although he had his own apartment, his sisters could always expect him home in time to eat lunch and dinner with his father and the family. Whenever anyone needed anything, he was the man they would call. It seemed everyone considered him to be their personal wingman,
On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Boldan took his three youngest brothers to their football game in Hurricane, UT. He was so excited for them as they won their game that day. Later that day, he bought himself a brand-new motorcycle helmet. Immediately after he got home, he took it out of the box, put it on, straddled his powerful 450 dirt bike and sped away. Moments later, a vehicle pulled out in front of him. He hit full force and was killed on impact. He was 21 years old.
Boldan is survived by his parents, Terril and Holly, his maternal grandparents, Glade and Louise, and his thirteen siblings: Terril Jr, Truman Glade, Louisianna Joy, Captain, Sunshine, Abram, Qman, Alyssum, Sabrina, Enzign, Terriln, Wilford, and Solomon. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Truman and Karen.
