Anneliese Ballard

ANNELIESE GERTRUD BALLARD, 78 passed away at 06:10 Sunday, 2 February 2025 in the arms of her adoring and loving husband, Tom

She was born 8 September,1946 in Waibstadt, Germany to Max Franz Wilhelm Pichel and Frieda (Koch) Pichel. She was married to Tommy Rodger Ballard 6 November 1965 in Key West, Florida for a charmed marriage of 59 years.

She and her family came to America in 1959 after enduring 4 years of vetting. She graduated from Key West High School in 1964. She was escorted to her Senior Prom by her boyfriend, now husband Tommy Ballard. Anneliese became a U.S. citizen in 1964. She mastered the English language in just two years. After marriage, she became a Navy wife travelling to Mississippi, Pennsylvania, California and back to Florida where she gave birth to her only child Liesa Anne, 17 November 1968. Next came Alaska where her husband switched to the U.S. Coast Guard for assignment back to Florida, then Maryland, New York City and finally Alabama where Tom retired having served 30 continuous years to our country. Anneliese always sought employment wherever the needs of the service sent Tom. She was always hired on the spot given her skill, charisma and gracious demeanor. She worked in construction with a General Contractor and other construction companies. She also endeavored to work clerical duties for the Navy Exchange while in Alaska. She loved working in her parents' bakery, mastering delicate decorating techniques, and always coming home smelling like a freshly baked loaf of bread. Before retiring from the workforce, she took to merchandising for American Greetings, a job she really loved. It is VERY important to mention, the toughest job in the military, is that of a military wife. Anneliese took on this job without complaint. While Tom was away, she managed all the affairs of the family. This gave Tom the piece of mind to carry out his duties while away. Upon Tom's return, things were always in a better state than when he departed.

She is survived by her adoring worshiping husband Tommy Rodger Ballard of Hurricane, Utah; her soulmate and constant companion Liesa Anne Worthington (John) of Hurricane, Utah; Abigale Lugenbeel (Karl); Alexander Ballard Kearney (Shiaynne & Phoenix).

She is preceded in death by her father Max, stepdad Edward Mueller, her mother Freida and her brother Reinhold Pichel.

Funeral Services will be waived in favor of a private celebration of life with her grieving, loving, adoring and heart broken family. In lieu of flowers, donations are urged to the Alzheimer's Association at ACT.ALZ.ORG.
