Alice Marie Iverson beloved mother, wife, stepmother, grandmother, and friend peacefully passed away on January 2, 2025, at the age of 98. Alice was born in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania on May 28, 1926, to a large family.
She grew up in humble circumstances that taught her frugality and thrift. She put herself through school and became a nurse to help raise her two daughters, Susan, and Evelyn. They lived all over the country, but she found home in Hurricane, Utah after meeting and marrying Boyd Iverson in California.
Prior to retiring she worked as an OR nurse at the local hospital. She loved her community and those people around her and gave freely of her time volunteering and she was nominated and voted Volunteer of the Year for the City of Hurricane and then Volunteer of the Year for the State of Utah.
Life was not easy as she lost her husband and both daughters, but she dealt with hardship with grace and determination and was an example of being industrious and hardworking and being talented in many ways. She excelled as a seamstress and her crocheting and knitting was an art form that many people benefitted from. She was a really good cook and shared a lot of her delicious recipes. As long as she had good health, she participated in many social clubs and gatherings in the community and gave her time to those that needed a visit.
She was an adopted grandma to the neighbors, Dean and Marcia Johnson family, who appreciated and loved her and became family to them. She is preceded in death by her husband Boyd, and her daughters, Susan, and Evelyn. She is survived by her son-in-law, Danny Bowen, stepson, Alma Iverson, and stepdaughter, Trudy Dunn (David), and their families and her two nieces, Mary Ann Bouse and Karen Bouse.
There will be an open house in her honor, February 1st at her home, 262 South 400 West, Hurricane, UT, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454.
