Albert (Bert) H Emett

Albert (Bert) H Emett passed away surrounded by his family on August 6, 2024. He was born in Enterprise Utah on Sept 3, 1932, to Larue (Smoke) and Grace Hafen Emett. He had one sister, Margie (Fenton) Bowler. He married the love of his life Irene Ester Ott in Tropic Utah. They are the proud parents of 3 amazing children. Scott H (Jill) Emett, Brett Howard (Audrey) Emett, and Pam (Kay) Hunt. They have 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Family was everything to Pa and Mimi.

He grew up in Enterprise and learned to hunt from his dad, Smoke. At 16 years old he tracked, treed and killed his first mountain lion. Over his years he guided many famous people on mountain lion hunts and made many lifetime friends. When he wasn’t hunting or singing, he bred, trained, and sold hunting dogs. A dog from him was a sought-after thing. He was one of the last true cowboys. At 7 years old he traded for his first wild mustang horse. He rode it without a saddle and got bucked off many times. He was afraid of losing the horse if his parents knew he kept getting bucked off so he never would tell them. He was an extra cowboy in John Wayne movies, and greeted everyone with a sincere “howdy partner!”. Tanya Tucker sang in his band as a young girl. He sang Johnny Cash better than Johnny Cash. He entertained all over the west and recorded 2 different albums. He played with his son Scott and many of his grandchildren.Until the day he died he knew all of the words to over 500 songs. He gave his family a lifetime of treasured memories and will be truly missed.

He is survived by his wife Irene, all 3 children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and their spouses and 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Margie and 1 great grandson, Jaxon.

A graveside service will be held Saturday August 10 at the Veyo Ward Chapel at 11 am. A viewing will be held prior at 10 am in the same location. He will be laid to rest in the Veyo City Cemetery.

Arrangements were made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary. Friends and family are invited to sign Bert’s digital guestbook and share memories at SpilsburyMortuary.com
