Norman James Shannon, age 83, passed away December 29, 2011, in St. George, Utah. He was born June 13, 1928, in Goshen, Indiana, to Charles Sidney and Lillie Mae Meeker Shannon.
Norm was raised in Keoto, Oklahoma and Muskogee, Oklahoma. At the age of 13, his family moved to Atwater, California, where Norm worked picking cotton. He then moved to Porterville, where he met Jane Buckles. They married May 18, 1946, in Reno, Nevada. Together they had four children; Carol, Mike, Dennis and Donald.
Norm had his own distributing business in Ontario, California for 29 years. After he retired they moved to Springdale, Utah, where they have resided for the past 20 years.
Norm enjoyed fishing, hunting and shooting skeet. He also liked to shoot pool, bowl, and pitch horse shoes. Norm loved to be with his family and friends.
Norm is survived by his wife, Jane; four children; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the Springdale Cemetery, Springdale, UT.
